Once arrived at Kilimanjaro International airport (JRO), our driver-guide will pick you up from the airport arrival gate and then drive you to the Hotel in Moshi town. Once in the Hotel, our Kilimanjaro mountain guide will meet and pre-briefing you about your upcoming trek adventure as well as check if you have all the necessary mountain gears, unless you do not have some of the equipment then you can rent before starting the trek.

Moshi Town to Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa
After breakfast in your hotel, around 10 a.m to 10:30 a.m the driver will arrive to pick you up together with the rest of the crew and drive to Lendorosi gate, on the way we will have few stops for finishing purchasing some of the fresh food and you can have time to visit the supermarket in case you want to buy anything extra. At Londorosi gate you will undergo some park registration procedure then you will have time to take your lunch before start your trekking adventure. We will drive from Lendorosi gate to Lemosho gate, where it is the starting point of your hiking. From Lemosho gate you will be able to spot black and white colobus monkey while trailing through the lush forest until arriving at Big tree (Mti Mkubwa) Camp where you will get ready for your dinner and spend your night.

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 and then to Shira 2 Camp
Today we will walk for about 8 km through the rain forest then to the savannah and rocky scenery while cross different water stream before a walk down to Shira camp 1 where you will arrive and get ready for the lunch, at Shira ridge you will have the best view of Kibo while enjoying the environment and keep having best time with your crew and later you will proceed with your hiking to Shira Camp 2 where you will spend your night.

Elevation: 2,895m to 3,505m
Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp
Trek through the moorland vegetation and then the zone of giant heather and reach Shira Plateau which is one of the longest plateau on earth. This day is important since you will have a short acclimatization trek to the Lava Tower (4640m) where you will have your lunch then later you will trek down while spotting amazing and giant Senecio kilimanjari and arrive at Barranco Camp (3960m) for the overnight while witnessing the best plain views.

Elevation: 3,505m to 3,976 m
Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
After finish with your breakfast today you will have a challenging adventure through the Barranco breach wall which is not that hard as you may think but long and tiring, no technical equipment required, just your hands and feet especially when crossing the infamous kissing stone/rock (jiwe la kubusu in Kiswahili) . Later we will trek down to the Karanga valley (3963m) where we will rest and have our lunch and then later you will start following a path, which follows a gully. This path will take you up the ridge to the west until you reach the Barafu camp (4664m), this will be another relatively short but difficult 3 km walk path marked by cairns and you need to take it slowly.
Above 4000m the vegetation is alpine desert and you will be able to witness only White-necked raven going around the campsite. Not so much while arriving at the Barafu camp. No water for wash. No water streams above this elevation. By the time you arrive, you will be tired and maybe weak. The crew will already set up your tent as well as a table for dinner (you won’t feel sleepy anyway). Your guide will visit you before hit the bed for checking on your required summit clothes. It advised sleeping on 3 layers of clothes. First, because it is cold at the basecamp during the night (up to -10c). Second, it is because you have to make your layers warm as you will leave at midnight for the summit which is the exact cold. You will have your early dinner and then go for a pre-summit sleep until around 11 to 12 a.m before start trek to Uhuru Peak.

Barafu Camp to UHURU PEAK and then to Mweka Camp
Before leaving to Uhuru Peak, you will have a cup of coffee and cookies or biscuits. Put on the rest of layers (summit clothes) and ready to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak). What an incredible trek. Temperatures at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the nights are really cold. In the middle of June, the thermometer can drop to – 20 C. Dress and cover yourself accordingly. Walk slowly and listen to your Guide instructions. Expert to take six to seven hours from Barafu to Uhuru peak, The highest point on Africa, once at Uhuru peak you will be amazed by the breathtaking views and incredible sunrise if the weather permits then later you will descend down after having a short time at the peak and climb down to Barafu camp for a short break and then proceed to Mweka camp where you will spend your night (Here is when the Tipping celebration can take place before your dinner).

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After breakfast in the morning, you will then descend down to Mweka gate, once you arrived you will sign out and get presented with the certificates. The driver-guide will be there to drive you back to the hotel in Moshi Town together with the crew. (It is this moment when you can arrange with your guide if you wish to have a quick beer celebration with your crew member after arriving in town). Otherwise, you can go back to the Hotel and get ready for your flight back home or to Zanzibar or prepare for the safari trip the next day. Contact us for more details.
