Most people find it difficult to sleep at Barafu Camp, so as you have to start out for the summit very early around 1 am to get to it just before sunrise, it is a good idea to stay awake the evening before but only if you can, otherwise you can always take pre-summit sleep. The mist and cloud close in and obscures the views by 8 am and sometimes earlier. The route over the snow to the summit it sometimes like a technicolour dream if it has not snowed recently. do not attempt to get to the top quickly since ”slowly, slowly” which means “pole pole” in Swahili is our slogan for summit Kilimanjaro. Expert to take five to six hours from Barafu to Uhuru peak. Today is our summit day, The highest point on Africa, once at Uhuru peak where you will be amazed by the breathtaking views and incredible sunrise if the weather permits then later you will descend down after having a short time at the peak and reach Mweka camp where we will get our lunch and then rest.
